You can still buy a laptop that will run most games if you want a gaming PC but don't have the money to spend on one that is VR-ready. One of the first laptops on the market featuring Nvidia's GTX 1050 Ti GPU with the brand's first RGB-backlit keyboard to add some colour is the Asus ROG Strix GL753 ($1,099 to start, $1,299 as tested). Although it's a good laptop, there are upcoming devices with comparable features that will cost less than $1,000.
For its low-cost versions, Asus simplified the fantastic design that it utilises with its high-end ROG computers. As a result, the plastic creature is more gaudy than elegant. While the premium machines feature blazing lights on the sides of the logo, the Strix lid's orange neon paint makes it resemble a racing car bed. It is composed of black plastic with a faux-aluminum design.
The 17.3-inch, 1080p display and an island-style keyboard with number pad are visible when the lid is lifted. The ROG logo in the bottom right corner and a stripe around the touchpad are both neon orange accents on the plastic chassis. The front-facing speakers under the palm rest have a few extra orange accents.
